Barking Town Centre is changing fast. Population growth, through new
housing coupled with a rising birth rate and a rich mix of cultures brings new
opportunities for markets and sales growth. Barking Town Centre has
secured monies from the Outer London Fund for a package of improvements
to help boost trade. The Barking and Dagenham Technical Skills Academy
opened in Autumn 2012 providing vocational training for young people to
equip them with the skills they need for the challenge job market. With over
600 staff and students, the centre will also boost town centre trade.
