Ò Did you know? Metrolink runs frequent services from early in the morning until late in the evening, seven days a week. Ò Transport | M anchester has excellent public transport links, making it easy to travel around the city centre and out to neighbouring areas and attractions. As well as being served by one of the busiest bus routes in Europe, it is home to the UKÕs most successful tram network, Metrolink. Manchester also has direct links to an international airport and train services that form a central hub to the NorthwestÕs rail network. The Manchester city-region is currently the UKÕs fastest growing economy outside London. In order to support this and ensure that all residents are connected to the opportunities this presents, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities and Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority are planning further improvements to the city regionÕs network. The two authorities are examining innovative new measures to manage future congestion, including a limited week-day peak-time only congestion charge. Up to £3bn would be invested in public transport as part of this package, 80% of which would have to be in place before any charge could be introduced. Visit gmfuturetransport.co.uk for details.
