I am delighted to introduce the latest edition of the
Merton Business Directory.
This directory, which lists businesses across a vast
range of sectors in our borough, provides Merton-
based companies with an opportunity to market their
products and services, enables trade between local
businesses in the borough and links buyers with
suppliers. The Merton Business Directory also provides
information on all the Merton Council and Government
funded business support, as well as a range of Council
services which impacts on local business.
Merton is renowned as an excellent place in London
for starting-up, locating and doing business. There are
7,500 businesses in Merton providing over 57,000 jobs,
income and other economic benefits for the borough.
Merton is an important base and the headquarters to
many national and international companies such as
Rymans, CIPD, Capsticks, Zipcar, Lidl Square Enix, White
Light, Carclo Plastics,Worldwide Dispensers, WSM, URS
Corporation Ltd, Interserve FM, BOC, and many others.
It is also the base for a number of dynamic small and
medium-size businesses such as Wimbledon Studios,
Geeks Ltd, Kim’s Food Ltd, DS Systems, Endecotts and
KNK Building Services Ltd amongst others.
Merton has a range of office, retail and industrial space
to meet most business requirements. Wimbledon,
Raynes Park, Morden, Colliers Wood and Mitcham
all provide an excellent base for creative, business &
financial services, retail, restaurants and leisure

the locations of some of the UK’s leading companies
in manufacturing, construction and environmental
services. Merton has a highly skilled workforce to meet

excellent transport links to other parts of London
and the UK. Merton’s close proximity to the A3
and M25, as well as Heathrow and Gatwick
airports, gives businesses easy access to EU and
international markets.
However, like many other places in the UK and
worldwide, the impact of the recession continues to
affect a number of Merton’s businesses and the local
economy. In response to these challenges -and to take
full advantage of new economic opportunities as and
when they arise - the council has intensified its support
for Merton’s businesses.
These business support services include: business
loan schemes, Merton Business Support Service
(MBSS - a new high quality advice and support
programme for small businesses / new start-ups and
businesses with growth and high growth potential),
business rate relief support, shop front improvement
grants; support for industrial estates, town centres and
key sectors and, also, a programme to support the
retention of large and medium sized companies for
attracting new firms and investment into the borough.
The council is committed to supporting Merton
businesses achieve their full potential. The council
and its partners will work with businesses to deliver
effective business support measures which impact
positively on local businesses. It will also continue to
adopt business-friendly council policies which create
a conducive environment for businesses to locate
start-up, develop, and grow.
I hope that this directory is a helpful guide to you -
in the meantime, I wish you every success with
your business.
