About our Growth Areas
Five growth areas have been identified across the borough with capacity for
new housing, jobs and better local shops and services. Our vision for growth
in these areas will attract inward investment and create opportunities for
both businesses and our residents, as well as improving the physical
environment across the borough.
Wembley
Wembley is one of the largest
regeneration projects in the country
and can accommodate over 11,500
new homes and 10,000 new jobs.
The Council is working with
developers to bring forward
thousands of new homes with
hotels, student accommodation,
retail, commercial space and
community facilities alongside
landscaping and public realm.
This includes land around Wembley
Stadium in Wembley Park, but
also along Wembley High Road
and down to the Triangle.
Recent developments include the
Brent Civic Centre, a new Hilton hotel
and the London Designer Outlet in
Wembley Park, while along the high
road there is a new square and hotel
above Wembley Central station
.
Alperton
We have identified an unused area of
land adjoining the canal in Alperton
as a suitable regeneration site. As
well as providing 1,600 new homes,
we believe there is an opportunity
to provide a major boost to business
and employment opportunities. Our
vision for Alperton is to transform
this part of London into an attractive
place to live and work by creating
three distinct neighbourhoods.
Alperton’s Core, a Waterside
Residential Neighbourhood and the
Industrial Transition Zone. We will
influence the new developments
through our planning guidelines.
A Masterplan Special Planning
Document for Alperton was adopted
in July 2011 and we are currently
developing an Investment Plan for
this area.
