Jobcentre Plus services can help you to recruit
the right person for the job by providing access to
professional, modern and free vacancy advertising
services to get jobs noticed by the right people.
This Universal Jobmatch service from Jobcentre Plus
replaces all previous services and can help you to
advertise a vacancy online quickly and effectively so
that it reaches thousands of candidates who are looking
for job opportunities. Your vacancy will appear on the
gov.uk website, feature on the Jobcentre Plus national
network of touch screen terminals and be used by
Personal Advisers to support their customers into work.
Universal Jobmatch provides employers/recruiters with
an improved digital recruitment service offer to set up
and manage their account at a time and day that suits
them. It can be accessed via
and enables you as a company to post a number of
jobs at one time.
Employers/recruiters can receive an anonymous list
of potential matches, review their C.V.s, judge the
local labour market before posting a job and invite the
suitable jobseekers to apply for their position. This can
help to speed up the whole recruitment process as well
as assist with reducing costs. The service also enables
companies to give feedback to applicants online.
Small Business Recruitment Service
Jobcentre Plus support for small businesses offers an
individual, free, and professional recruitment service
which supports your recruitment processes whilst
minimising the cost and hassle. The Small Business
Recruitment Service (SBRS) was introduced to
improve the level of service that DWP provides to
small businesses, in particular generating stronger
recruitment support. It provides: -
• Free vacancy advertising to get your vacancies
noticed quickly across the network of Jobcentres
and via one of the largest jobsites in Europe.
• The SBRS Helpline will encourage companies to set
up a Universal Jobmatch account whether or not they
have jobs to advertise immediately, directing them to
the ‘Government Gateway’ to set up their account.
• Help with finding the best person for your job
through tailored recruitment support. This could be
help with the wording of your job advertisement or
a review of your existing recruitment practices.
• An anonymous list of potential matches for your
post, the opportunity to review their C.V.s and
judge the local labour market before posting a
job and invite the suitable jobseekers to apply
for their position.
• Save time by only seeing people who best meet
your requirements as Jobcentre Plus will screen
applications.
• A convenient link through to other Jobcentre Plus
services such as Work Trials.
• An aftercare service will make sure that you continue
to get the service you need.
• Small businesses wanting to recruit, get advice
about recruitment, or advice on employment-related
matters, can contact Jobcentre Plus on 0845 601 2001
(option 2) to get started. A textphone service for people
with speech or hearing impairments is available on
0845 601 2002. This service is available 9am to 5pm,
Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
• The development of this service has been taken
forward in partnership with the employer representative
bodies Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), British
Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and Chartered
Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Rapid Response Service
If you are considering making redundancies, Jobcentre
Plus may also be able to provide support and advice
for you and your employees. The Rapid Response
Service (RRS) aims to provide support to those
companies and staff who are at risk of or under formal
notice of redundancy. It is tailored to the needs of the
individual company and its workforce and can include:-
• Advice on job search
• Help preparing a CV
• Job interview advice and techniques
• Identifying transferable skills
• Advice on in work and out of work benefits
• Job-related training support to take up a new job,
e.g. help with initial travel or childcare costs
RRS is delivered by Jobcentre Plus in partnership with
a range of organisations which can include careers
services, development agencies, HM Revenue &
Customs, local authorities and skills bodies.
GREAT Business
Government and other partners are working together
to support new business startups and growth. Between
us, we’ve got all the advice, inspiration and practical
help you need to turn a dream into a working, profitable
business. The campaign aims to significantly increase
confidence amongst small businesses, prompting
them to take action to grow, export, hire new staff
and plan for the future. It is not aimed at sole traders.
Growth vouchers, for which there is £30 million available
in England to help Small and Medium Employers
(SMEs) access and raise finance and increase sales,
are currently being piloted and evaluated at the
moment. The approach will aim to join up the support
that is available locally and nationally and signpost
