The Council’s Business Development Team
is committed to working with local or
inward investing companies to stimulate
new business development opportunities.
Businesses looking to relocate to the area
can count on a wide range of support
services, including expert advice on local
recruitment programmes, property, and
guidance on existing grants and finance
schemes available for new business set-ups
or company expansions.
The Business Development team has a
proven track-record in working with major
companies, such as Costain, General
Electric and Intertissue, to maximise
contract opportunities for local business.
Through its local sourcing initiative, the
team identify projects that have significant
impact on the local economy and then
work with developers, contractors and
sub-contractors to promote the value of
local sourcing; help contractors find suitable
suppliers and increase awareness around
contract opportunities for local businesses.
Job creation is also a major part of the
team’s work to achieve local economic
benefit. The team provides assistance
with recruitment, training, staff retention
and accessing employment incentives.
